The paper presents the results of a study of major pollen-pistil interactions in fruit trees, particularly in relation to the germination and growth of pollen tubes on the stigma, as well as in the style and ovary. The paper also reports on the most up-to-date studies conducted in recent years in fruit trees in the field of self-incompatibility.
