Experimentally two kinds of granulated diets (one standard with low and one with high oxidation of lipids) have been used to provoke HL in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss, Walbaum). It was found out that the development of dystrophic processes led to increase malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration in affected tissues. It was suggested that MDA levels could be used as a reliable indicator of peroxidative injury to biological systems, respectively to the quality of rainbow trout flesh. The quality of trout flesh was discussed.
