The efficiency of antiparasitical prevention and therapy in dogs and cats was investigated in this study. The animals were divided into three groups as follows: 1) clinically healthy animals treated by antiparasitics, 2) animals with symptoms of parasitoses, 3) animals whose faeces were examined after preventive use of antiparasitics. In the first group parasites, especially Protozoa, were found in faeces of 28% of dogs and 67% of cats, which indicates that the used antiparasitics were not efficient against all the types of parasites. Concerning the second group, coprological analyses were positive in 24% of dogs and 36% of cats. Only very few animals were positive after the use of antiparasitics. In the third group none of the 38 dogs examined was infected by parasites, while one cat out of two animals examined was infected by Isospora rivolta. Our results confirm the necessity to make the right choice of antiparasitics.
