Breeding sows from two farms (174 and 295 sows, respectively) were divided into 13 and 18 groups, respectively, according to their fathers. Correlation coefficients between lean meat content (LMC) and the size of the first and other litters (total number of born piglets, piglets born alive and weaned piglets) were calculated for each group. The observed correlation coefficients were very variable, in most cases they were very low (negative or positive), their means for each farm and reproductive parameter having been near zero. Nevertheless, a high percentage of LMC had a low, but negative influence on the fertility.
