[Lean meat content and slaughter weight of pigs evaluated according to the SEUROP system]

The lean meat content (LMC) and slaughter weight of 9,502 hybrid pigs were assessed in order to classify the carcasses according to the SEUROP classification system. The average slaughter weight was 114.1+/-0.161 kg, the average LMC was 52.05+/-0.044 %. The carcasses were classified to the different classes in decreasing order as follows: 2.6 %, 23.1 %, 42.8 %, 26.4 %, 4.8 %, 0.3 %. Slaughter weights of the tested pigs corresponded to the classification demands of the SEUROP system.
