Role and appraisal of motor-roads in planning regions of Latvia

The paper estimates the role of territorial planning in the development of Latvia. The planning regions developed have been estimated according to their area and the number of population. The role of planning regions developed has been estimated for lessening the regional differences in different parts of the territory of Latvia. The present (existing) division of motor - roads in Latvia has been provided, as well as the network of motor - roads of this country, its density and the qualitative condition of road covering have been appraised. The paper estimates the role of qualitative motor - roads of this country for lessening undesirable regional differences, as well as for the development of entrepreneurship, tourism and information technology.
