The effects of the ensiling potential of timothy and ryegrass at different stages of maturity and application of an inoculant Sil All4x4 on quality of silages

The ensiling potential improved with increasing maturity of forages, especially in ryegrass. However, it has been accompanied by a decrease in CP content, digestibility and energy value of silages. Treatment with an inoculant Sil All4x4 produced the well fermented silages with low pH and restricted or eliminated butyric acid fermentation. Lactic acid fermentation of inoculated silages was very extensive, especially in the stage of ear formation of ryegrass. Inoculation improved hygienic status of silages
