The addition of the timothy to the pure alfalfa sowings reduced the protein content of the harvest, specially in first cut. The changes in the CF content did not depend on the timothy sowing norm. The differences between the cuts in CF content and digestibility of organic matter were caused by the development differences of plants. The Ca-content was higher in the case of the imported alfalfa. The increase of the timothy sowing norm reduced the Ca-content in first cut. Simultaneously the P- and K-contents did not change. In first and second cuts the content of DP was 12.4-13.7 per cent. The addition of timothy decreased it to 10.5 per cent. The harvest of third cut had high CP content (15-19 per cent) and the influence of timothy was missing. Timothy did not influence plausibly the harvest's MP content. The harvests of the alfalfa-timothy mixtures had a positive PBV value in rumen. It was decreased due to the increase of timothy sowing norm and was almost zero in the case of first cut when timothy constituted 25-37 per cent in harvest. In the harvest of third cut the PBV was 2-3 times higher than in previous cuts and the effect of timothy sowing norm was lacking
