Objectives and tools of agricultural policy in the Hungarian sugar market

The paper attempts to draw attention to the special treatment and judgement of agricultural (commodity) markets which differ from classic product markets' charactersitics. Authors enumerate both supply and demand side characteristics of agricultural markets, as well as the policy objectives and tools of different government policies with their sugar market relevance. Hungary has adopted the agricultural objectives of the European Community by the 1997 Act on Agricultural Development.
