Effect of density and species of weeds on reduced seed yield of soybean

英语. Weed is one of main constraints on soybean production. A decrease of soybean yield of approximately 12-80 percent was reported due to weed population, depending upon the density and the species of weeds. A reduction of soybean yield was due to competition in acquiring nutrients, water, and solar radiation. A field experiment was done to investigate the effect of the density and species of weeds on growth and yield of soybean. The experiment was conducted during dry season in 1997 at Jambegede, Malang (brown Aluvial) and Mojosari (Regosol). Nine treatments, combination of the density and species of weeds, were laid out in randomized block design with four replicates. As a control treatments with herbicides (H) weeding (K2) and without weeding (1), were also used in this experiment. Soybean cultivar, Wilis, was sown on plot size 4 m x 5 m, with plant spacing of 40 cm x 10 cm, 2 plants/hill. The results showed that on Aluvial soil (Jambegede), the early density (20 percent) of Amaranthus sp. and Digitaria sp. reduced soybean yield by 38 percent and 26 percent, respectively. On the other hand, Cyperus sp. did not affect soybean yield until early density of weed was 80 percent. The present data indicated that weeding needs to be done when early population of Amaranthus sp. and Digitaria sp. was about 20 percent. On the Regosol soils (Mojosari), weed density of Portulaca sp., Cynodon sp., and Cyperus sp. of 20-80 percent did not reduce soybean yield significantly. It is suggested that weeding is not necessary even though the density of the weeds is 80 percent

印度尼西亚. Gulma merupakan salah satu faktor pembatas dalam peningkatan produksi kedelai, tanpa penyiangan hasil kedelai menurun sekitar 12-80 persen, tergantung kepadatan dan spesies gulma. Penurunan hasil disebabkan oleh kompetisi antara gulma dengan tanaman dalam memanfaatkan unsur hara, air, dan cahaya. Penelitian lapang yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tingkat kepadatan dan spesies gulma terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil kedelai dilaksanakan di Inlitkabi Jambegede, Malang (jenis tanah Aluvial Coklat Kelabu) dan di IP2TP Mojosari, Mojokerto (jenis tanah Regosol), pada MK 1997. Sembilan perlakuan, kombinasi antara spesies gulma dan kepadatan awal spesies gulma, ditambah perlakuan pembanding yaitu aplikasi herbisida (H), bebas gulma (K2) dan tanpa penyiangan (K1), disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok dan diulang empat kali. Kedelai varietas Wilis ditanam pada petak percobaan berukuran 4 m x 5 m, jarak tanam 40 cm x 10 cm, 2 tanaman/rumpun. Pada tanah Aluvial coklat kelabu di Jambegede, gulma Amaranthus sp. dan Digitaria sp. dengan kepadatan awal 20 persen dari populasi kedelai dapat menurunkan hasil masing-masing 38 persen dan 26 persen dibandingkan perlakuan bebas gulma selama pertumbuhan tanaman. Gulma Cyperus sp. dengan kepadatan awal sampai 40 persen dari populasi kedelai tidak menurunkan hasil biji dibandingkan perlakuan bebas gulma. Sedangkan peningkatan kepadatan awal menjadi 80 persen dapat menurunkan hasil sebesar 21 persen. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa dominasi gulma Amaranthus sp. dam Digitaria sp. dengan kepadatan awal 20 persen dari populasi kedelai harus segera dikendalikan untuk mencegah penurunan hasil. Pada tanah Regosol di Mojosari, dominasi gulma Portulaca sp., Cynodon sp., dan Cyperus sp. sampai kedapatan 80 persen dari populasi kedelai tidak menurunkan hasil biji pada kondisi pertanaman terserang hama dengan intensitas tinggi
