An Experiment of sagopalm (Metroxylon sagu Rottb.) seedling preparation using two growing media
2000
Rostiwati, T.
Establishment of large-scale sagopalm plantations requires a large quantity of nursery prepared sagopalm seedlings. An important aspect of seedling preparation is selecting the appropriate growing medium. An experiment was undertaken to study the quality of two growing media i.e. mineral soil and peat soil. The results indicated that seedlings on peat soils grow longer fronds, yet in terms of number of fronds there is no apparent difference between seedlings on mineral and on peat soil. In other words, peat soil seems slightly better than mineral soil for sago seedling preparation
