Decreasing groundnut pod losses at harvest through irrigation before harvest

英语. A study on groundnut pod losses at harvest (as pod left in the soil at harvest) was carried out at Genteng Experimental Farm during the 2nd dry season 1997. The treatments consisted of irrigation (without irrigation and irrigation 3 days before harvest) and varieties/lines (Gajah, Lokal Tuban, Kelinci, G/C/LG-88-B-48, and K/SHM2-88-B-7). Treatments were arranged in Split-plot Design with four replications. When irrigated 3 days before harvest, pod losses (as pod left in the soil) significantly was reduced, therefore it can be suggested to irrigate, 3 days before harvest, to reduce yield (pod) losses at harvest. Further research on characteristic and factor affecting pod strength due to pull force during harvesting are needed. Kelinci variety has dry pod yield potential (3 t/ha), high grain recovery (84 percent), and low pod losses potential (around 4 percent) at harvest if irrigation before harvest was applied

Penelitian guna menekan kehilangan hasil polong saat panen (polong tertinggal saat panen) telah dilakukan di Inlitkabi Genteng pada MK II 1997. Perlakuan meliputi: faktor pengairan (tidak diairi dan diairi 3 hari sebelum panen) dan faktor varietas/galur kacang tanah (Gajah, Lokal Tuban, Kelinci, G/C//LG-88-B-48, dan K/SHM2-88-B-7). Perlakuan disusun mengikuti Rancangan Petak Terbagi (Split Plot Design) diulang empat kali. Pengairan tiga hari sebelum panen menurunkan secara nyata persentase polong tertinggal (3 t/ha), rendemen biji tinggi (84 persen), dan potensi kehilangan hasil polong (polong tertinggi di dalam tanah saat panen) paling rendah yakni sekitar 4 persen bila dilakukan pengairan sebelum panen. Pengairan sebelum panen dapat diterapkan dalam rangka memperkecil kehilangan hasil polong kacang tanah saat panen. Perlu penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai karakteristik dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi ketahanan tangkai polong kacang tanah terhadap gaya tarikan pada saat panen
