[Testing results of diverse origin hull-less barley]

Hull-less barley is not currently grown in Latvia, but considerable success in breeding and growing has been made in Canada. Field trials with 32 diverse origin (Canada, the Czech Republic, Sweden, CIMMYT, Latvia) hull-less barley genotypes were made at Priekuli and Vecauce during 2000-2001. Covered barley varieties Abava, Linga and Druvis were used for testing. Grain yield, volume weight, 1000 grain weight, crude protein content, the length of vegetation period, threshability, resistance to lodging and sprouting and infection with loose smut were estimated.
