To assess the influence of row spacings on the growth and yield of masoor
2000
Arain, S.A.
The present experiment was conducted to assess the influence of inter row spacing on the growth and yield of masoor variety 1812 at Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam during winter 1998-99 in a randomized complete block design with four replications having net plot size 6m2 meter. Plant height was significantly affected by row spacings where as closer row spacings produced taller plants in comparison to wider spacings. Number of branches per plant were highly, significantly affected by row spacings. Maximum number of (7.992) per plant were recorded under row of 60 cm and minimum number of branches (3.682) per plant was recorded under rows spacings of 20 cm. Numbers of pods per plant were highly significantly affected by row spacing. Increasing row spacing from 20 cm to 80 cm significantly increased the number of pods per plant and maximum number of pod (48.09) per plant was recorded under 60 cm row spacings. Seed index was significantly affected by row spacings. Maximum seed index (5.190) was recorded under 80 cm wider row spacings and minimum (3.697) in closer row spacings of 20 cm. Seed Yield differed significantly due to various row spacings. Maximum yield 0.75, kg per plot (6m2) and 1250 kg/ha was recorded under row spacings of 60 cm and minimum row spacings of 20 cm produced lowest grain yield 0.39 kg per plot (6m2) as well as per kilogram per hectare (650). It was concluded that for obtaining better seed yield in masoor variety 1812, the crop should be grown under 60 cm row spacing under agro climatic conditions of Tandojam.
