The present research work was carried out to assess the growth and seed productivity responses of okra varieties to different nitrogen levels, at Horticultural Orchard of Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam during the summer season of 1999. The research work was carried out in three-replicated randomized complete block design with factorial arrangements. Two varieties Faisalabad-I and Mirpurkhas-I was taken treatments includes N1= Control, N2= 80 kg/ha, N3= 100 kg/ha, N4= 120 kg/ha, N5= 140 kg/ha. At the time of maturity 10 plants were selected at random from each bed for recording data on Plant height (cm), Number of branches per plant, Number of pods per plant, Pod length (cm), Number of seeds per plant, Seed weight per plant (g), Seed index (1000 seed weight in g, Seed yield per plot (g), Calculated seed yield (kg/ha), All the collected data were subjected to analysis of variance to test superiority of treatment mean L.S.D (Least Significant Difference) test was applied. Increasing nitrogen level significantly increased the number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant, pod length, number, of seeds per pod, seed weight/per plant, seed index and seed yield per plot. However, there was no significant difference in the height of the plants of varieties. Varieties had also significant effect on all the characters studied except plant height Variety Faisalabad-1. Proved superior than variety Mirpurkhas-1 in all respects except plant height. The interaction between nitrogen levels x varieties also had significant effect on number of seeds per pod, seed weight per plant, seed index (1000 seed weight), seed yield per plot and per hectare. Therefore, it may be concluded that for obtaining better seed yield in okra varieties, Faisalabad-1 may be grown and the nitrogen may be applied at 140 kg/ha.
