Status of macronutrients in soils of Date Research Center at Turbat, Balochistan [Pakistan]
2001
Ahmed, N.
In the present study macronutrients (NPK) were analyzed with some physico-chemical properties of soils of Date Research Center Turbat, Balochistan. The study was carried out during the year 1998-99.84 composite soil samples from soil depths of 0-15 and 15-30 cm' were collected from 42 spots. The samples were analyzed for texture, EC, pH, O.M, Lime-content, Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium. Soils of Date Research Centre were sandy loam in texture at the depth of 0-15 and 15-30 cm. Those soils were alkaline in. reaction having pH 7.85 acid 7.83 at soil depths of 0-15 and 15-30 cm. Tie electrical conductivity of soils were 10.61 and 13.25 dS/m at soil depths of 0-15 and 15-30 cm. Soils of Date Research Centre were moderately calcareous at both depths (0-15 and 15-30 cm) with averages of 10.53 and 10.34 respectively. At the depth of 0-15 and 15-30 cm soils were deficient in organic matter with means of 0.185 and 0.143 respectively. At both the depths, soil were low in their total Nitrogen content, the average were 0.010 and 0.009 respectively. AB-DTPA available P showed that soils were low in P at both depths (0-15 and 15-30 cm) with average of 3.25 and 2.95 mg/kg respectively. AB-DTPA extractable K showed that soils at 0-15 and 15-30 cm depths were medium with means of 92.08 and 83.10 mg/kg respectively. In the light of above findings application nitrogenous and phosphatic fertilizer may be beneficial for improving crop yield in this area.
