Effect of habitat conditions on biomass production and nutrient cycling in selected communities of coniferous forest
2001
Banaszuk, P. (Technical University, Bialystok (Poland). Dept. of Landscape Ecology)
The aim of the research was to estimate the effect of habitat conditions on the biomass production and the cycling of elements in two coniferous forest communities and to balance the budget of elements for the separated fragments of the ecosystem. In both investigated communities the nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus resources in soil (to a depth 60 cm) 1.5-3.0 times exceed those in plants. The content of magnesium in soils and plant mass were similar, potassium decisively dominated in the plant mass
