Heavy metal contents of soil as an effect of long-term mineral fertilization and liming. Pt. 2. Cadmium and nickel contents

The levels of the total forms of cadmium and nickel were within the range of their natural contents. In the 0-10 cm soil layer mineral treatment did not have any visible effect on the total cadmium content of soil. The highest level of this metal was found in the soil of the control object. Neither the treatment nor the depth of the soil profile had any enfluence on the total nickel content of soil. Liming caused a slight increase in the total Cd and Ni contents of both soil layers. The proportion of forms soluble in 1 mol/cubic cm HCL in the total levels of the investigated metals was higher in the 0-10 cm than in the 10-20 cm layer.
