Four cycles of divergent selection were conducted in order to limit the contents of hulled seeds which lower the sowing material quality. Two resultant populations, in which hulled seed content diversification ranged within 8-28 percent were represented by 50-65 lines. Selection increasing the proportion of genotypes more prone to loss the glumes during threshing and cleaning indirectly affected the delay in plant heading date by 2-3 days, increase in 1000 seed weight by 6.5-13.3 percent, increase in yield of green matter determined prior to end at the heading stage by respectively 21.0 and 23.6 percent and decline in seed yield by 35.2 percent in comparison to the population with high content of unhulled seeds
