Influence of retardants and fertilization on growth, development and decorative value of garden pansy (Viola wittrockiana Gams.)

The experiment was conducted on seven F1 cultivars of pansy of Delta Group from firm Novartis. It was aimed at examining the influence of retardants: B Nine 85 SP at concentration of 0.5 percent, Cycocel 460 SL - 0.5 percent, Topflor 015 SL - 0.05 percent on morphological features of pansies. Sphagnum peat (pH=6.5) was used as a medium, in four fertilization combinations. It was found that only Topflor 015 SL had strong retarding and long lasting effects. Cycocel 460 SL inhibited growth of all the cultivars for a short period of time, but improved plant conformation. B Nine 85SP had the weakest stunting properties. The pansies in combinations with Csmocote Plus, slow-release fertilizer, had the largest flowers and the most abundant flowering
