During a three-year experiment on arable land with very good rye soil complex the influence of different nitrogen and potassium doses on the yield, fertilization effectiveness as well as influence on the content of total nitrogen, protein nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen in the rescue grass were studied. The dose of 240 kg N/ha was stated to be optimum in the conditions of the experiment. Applying potassium in the dose exceeding 100 kg K/ha was ineffective. Significantly high effectiveness of 1 kg N and high utilization of nitrogen was gained. Rescue grass did not accumulate excessive amount of nitrates
