In monography the author analyses lots of numerical bases for the valuation of ecological carrying capacity of the mountain landscape on the territory of Slovak national parks. It concerns especially analysis of abiotic complex of physical-geography components - geological composition, relief, quaternary sediments, soils, climate and water balance. The author divides the landscape types on the territory of national parks into 2 groups: geoecological (natural landscape) types and types of present landscape. There are analysed from many standpoints types of environment in the mountain areas of Slovak national parks - geoecological types; climatic-geographical types; types according to occurrence of positive elements and negative elements in environment and finally socio-economic types. The one part of work is dedicated to analysis of some potentials in the landscape of mountain areas of Slovak national parks. The author chose as the examples of valuation wood-producing potential, erosion control potential of the forest, dwarf pines and permanent grass stands, primary avalanche control potential of forest and potential of tourism according to relief types. The author did also a functional landscape delimitation according to total potential for the economic landscape utilization. In the last part the author presents the principles, factors and starting points for solution or determination of carrying capacity in the landscape of mountain areas of Slovak national parks. He considers the landscape carrying capacity as its possible optimal (or rational) use, or load by man activities without the cause of destruction of individual ecosystem components in the landscape and without the irreversible changes in the landscape structure
