[Improving the models of single-cross interline maize hybrids adapted to the conditions of Forest Steppe of Ukraine]

The most productive self-pollinated lines of domestic and foreign breeding and the single-cross hybrids developed on the basis therof are studied to disclose specific features of the manifestation of economic traits, genetic inheritance and heterosis under the conditions of Forest Steppe of Ukraine; and to use the data obtained to improve the existing models of single-cross maize hybrids. Classification of the work collection of self-pollinated maize lines as for their combination and adaptation abilities is carried out, and sources of economic traits are determined. Heterosis effect on some traits and characteristics of single-cross hybrids are studied. The mechanism of forming and inheriting the traits mentioned above is revealed. As a result of the research, the models of early maturing and mid-season single-cross hybrids of maize for the conditions of Forest Steppe of Ukraine are specified
