A mechanism of feeling the heads of roots consists of a passive skid-equipped feeler, placed on a parallelogram suspension, connected with a top-cutting apparatus with the aid of a lever and mechanisms of adjusting a gap as regards to a disk knife in the horizontal and vertical planes. In doing so one link of the parallelogram suspension is made in such a manner as to allow changing its length for adjusting an angle of attack of the passive skid-equipped feeler within the limits of 18-30 deg
