As a result of a long term application of selective herbicides and modified maize growing practices, caused changes of weed floristic composition. The number of weed species and number of weed plants per species per square m on treated and untreated (control) variants were estimated in Zemun Polje, Serbia (Yugoslavia). The changes in weed flora were manifested in a lower number of broadleaved weeds, susceptible to the triazine herbicides. At the same time, the spreading of perennial broadleaved species, as well as, the species from the Poaceae family was noticed. The solutions consist of the application and intensifying of cropping practices (crop rotation) and also of the applications of various herbicide combinations at different periods for weed control.
