[Results of selection in Byelorussian population of LW pigs]

Breeding herds of Byelorussian population of LW pigs, 1706 animals in total number, have been created. Their productivity is as follows: 11,8 piglets of litter size, 185,5 days of age at 100 kg of live weight, 750 g of average daily gain and 27,5 mm of backfat thickness. Sows of this breed are widely used for commercial crossing. Animals of this population are stress resistant and have a high level of homozygosity (up to 50%) on B allele of the estrogene receptor gene
