An experiment has been conducted on Vitis vinifera cv. Chasselas at the Swiss federal research Station of Changins (Switzerland) to study the valorization of nitrogen fertilizer localized under the vine rows in grass-covered vineyards. Compare to nitrogen fertilization on the whole ground surface, this practice has improved nitrogen nutrition and vegetative expression of the plant. A reduction of the duration of alcoholic fermentation and an improvement of the wine quality could also be observed.
