Test of Populus x euramericana cv. Pannonia resistance to the attack of Discoporium populeum (Sacc.) Sutton by artificial infections

Populus x euramericana cv. Pannonia has been planted in the region of north Potisje since 1998. This cultivar was introduced after severe attacks by the fungus Discosporium populeum on the clone I-214. As there are no data on this cultivar resistance on poplar sites in Potisje, the main objective of this study was to analyse its reaction to this parasitic fungus. The cultivar resistance was evaluated by the standard method of inoculation with the mycelium and spore suspension in the bark incision. Based on the results of the experiment it can be concluded that the study cultivar is not immune to the attack of the fungus, but it has a high degree of resistance.
