Mineral composition of S. [Solanum] nigrum plants in relation to habitat

Solanum nigrum is widely spread weed plant species. It contents alkaloids and other phytochemically active compounds and because of that it is of significant pharmaceutical importance. The results of total ash and macronutrient contents (N, P, K, and Ca) in stem, leaves, flowers and fruits are presented, with respect to the possible physiological effect of analyzed elements on the content of pharmacologically important compounds. The results suggest that the nitrogen has a dominant effect on the content and ratio of total alkaloids and flavonoids.
