The objective of the project was to evaluate the quality of corn crops treated and stored in silo towers (750 tons of capacity). Aerating channels were placed on the footing plate inside the tower. The aeration of the stored corn was optimized by ventilators working automatically according to the air relative humidity and corn temperature. Each tower was equipped by two fans enabling the air delivery of 20 cubic m per 1 ton of stored corn within 1 hour. The average output speed from the stored corn layer along the tower perimeter was 0.101 m/s, while in the centre of the tower it was 0.027 m/s. It is evident from the measured values that the air speed was sufficient and the risks of corn deterioration were minimal.
