Today, the satellite sensing has became one of the essential parts of remote sensing, the result of which is satellite image that already has a 0.62 m resolution. This fact allows for the satellite images to be used in different fields of activity. The present study presents a detailed review of on of the uses of satellite images - their interpretation. Examples of IKONOS CARTERRA Geo product three color types (panchromatic, true color and multispectral) satellite images with a 1-m resolution from the same place are given. At first, the visual interpretation was made without any thematic trend. Getting better accuracy, changing contrast, enlarging or lessening of image, indirect and direct symptoms of interpretation were used on the satellite images. Supervised classification was made by using satellite images and the image processing program Idrisi 32. On the basis of the training site (i.e. the best representative of a certain area type operating as a model for the identification of this type areas) a classifier was made. Every pixel falling outside the homogenous area was analyzed by using the data from the spectral response patterns of five bands and was finally assigned to the category of closest features. As a result of the study, a catalogue was compiled, which may quality as a standard of interpretation for different cartographic works. It contains a detailed review of the distinguishing features of different objects on satellite images both in textual and figurative form. The classification results in a new image that enables to better identify the content of objects
