Genetic studies on some yield traits of durum wheat. 2.- grain yield and its attributes

未知. A study on the nature of the genetic system controlling grain yield/plant and its attributes was carried out using a diallel set of crosses among eight durum wheat genotypes, Triticum turgidum var. durum of diverse origin at the F1 and F2 generations. The parental genotypes, F1 hybrids and F2 populations were grown in a completely randomized block design with three replicates. Additive gene effects were found to constitute a considerable portion of the genetic variation for number of spikes per plant in the F1 and F2 number of kernels per spike, 100-kernel weight, biological yield, and grain yield in the F1. The graphical presentation and the degree of dominance (H1/D) 1/2 showed the presence of over-dominance for kernels/spike, 100-kernel weight and grain yield in the F2 and harvest index in both generations. Broad sense heritability values were high for all traits. The estimate of the narrow-sense heritability were of moderate to high for number of spikes per plant (0.95 and 0.95), number of kernels per spike (0.92 and 0.78), 100-kernels weight (0.70 and 0.76) and biological yield per plant (0.82 and 0.88) but moderate for grain yield per plant (0.69 and 0.57) and harvest index (0.52) in the F1 hybrids and F2 populations, respectively, while it was low for harvest index in the F1 hybrids (0.39). Selection for yield and its attributes could be practiced in segregates of Bani-Swief 1/Sohag 1, Sohag 2/Bani-Swief-l, Cmh 80/Chahba and Belikh 1/Sahaba 88.
