Effect of eimeria necatrix infection on ranikhet disease vaccination in chicken

The protozoan parasite coccidia as such produces severe pathogenesis in commercial chicken. Apart from their direct effect they were also reported to cause immunodepressive effect. The role of oocysts of Eimeria tenella as an immunodepressive agent against Newcastle disease vaccination was probed by various authors. In namakkal, Eimeria necatrix is found to be the predominent species affecting chicken and often encountered along with Ranikhet Disease(RD). Hence, to study the role of E. necatrix as one of the possible immunodepressive agent, the present work was undertaken.
