Varietal suscepibility of sweet potato germplasm against sweet potato weevil, Cylas formicarius

The experiment on the screening of the 12 sweet potato germplasm was carried out at the vegetable farm of the Narendra Deva University of Agriculture, & Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad during 1996-97. None of the germplasms of sweet potato was found resistant to C.formicarius. The germplasms 79-OP-217, Kalmegh and X-69 were moderately tolerant while X-25, Cross-4 and 76-OP-21 were susceptible and the rest six germplasm S-30, C-71, H-85-168, V-35, H-82-2 alongwith local were highly susceptible as per standard of 0-30 per cent tuber damage. The germplasm V-35 had maximum weight loss as compared to 79-OP-717. A oositive relationship was also observed with leaf, vine and tuber damage percentage.
