The aim of the paper was to determine the seasonal changes in the number of the chemoautotrophic nitryfying bacteria in tile drainage water of the eutrophic Lake Bartag catchment area. The study was conducted on the water from five wells located in lowlands and two wells located on hills in 6 consecutive years. Numbers of all nitrifying groups varied within investigation period in the range by 1 to 2, rarely 3 orders of magnitude. No stated greater differences between these bacteria in water from the wells located on the lowlands and hills
