At this meeting views were exchanged on the current status of conservation and use of plant genetic resources in each country in order to improve mutual understanding, review the progress of joint activities in the region, and identify priority areas for future collaboration. The presentations were given in two sessions, country reports and thematic reports: in these the topics covered research work on conservation and use of genetic diversity of millets, barley, soybean and adzuki bean, cryopreservation of temperate fruit tree species in member countries in the region, and other thematic issues such as documentation and public awareness.
