Comparative study on recommended varieties of mungbean

Six recommended varieties of mungbean and blackgram were investigated for varios characters. These varieties were U-thong 1, Kamphaeng Saen 1, Kamphaeng Saen 2, Chainat 60, PSU-1, and U-thong 2. The last entry was blackgram. They were planted in a randomized complete block design with four replications. U-thong 2 gave the highest yield followed by Kamphaeng Saen 1. Most varieties of mungbean exhibited similar growth rate, net assimilation rate and leaf area index. However, at the late stage of growth U-thong 2 possessed the highest net assimilation rate.
