Isolation and chemical screening test of some compounds from stem bark of Polyalthia cerasoides (Roxb.) Benth. ex Bedd. were investigated. There were flavonoid, steroid, deoxysugar and trace amount of alkaloid found in methanol extracts, but none of cardiac glycoside and coumarin were detected. Crude hexane and methanol extracts were isolated by chromatographic method. Stigmasterol was the only compound isolated from hexane extracts. Two compounds were found in methanol extracts, there were tetrahydrofuran-2, 3,4,5-tetrol, mp 130-132 deg C and 1,2,4-trihydroxy-3,5-dioxacyclopentene-4-acetic acid, mp 216-218 deg C.
