Obtaining and characteristic of an anti-glutathione peroxidase (GPx) antibody

Repeated immunization of rabbits with GPx-Control (Ran-Sel Control, Randox, UK) was performed. Polyclonal rabbit antiserum against GPx was obtained, and its specificity and titer were determined by ELISA test. After purification by affinity-column chromatography (CN-Br-activated sepharose coupled to GPx-Control), a Polyclonal monospecific rabbit antiserum was obtained. Its specificity and titer were determined by ELISA and Western blot analysis. The titer of untreated serum and isolated polyclonal monospecific antibodies against GPx were as follow 1:2.000 and 1:4.000 respectively. Tetramer, dimmer and monomer forms in GPx-Control where detected on WIB analysis.
