[Determination of nitrate nitrogen content in the soil in the silking stage of maize inbred lines in the function of organic agriculture]

The studies were carried out on semigley-calcareous chernozem. Three maize inbred lines of different vegetation were observed. The mineral fertilizer was applied in five variants. The greatest content of nitrate nitrogen in soil in the silking stage was achieved in the inbred L1 (86.12 kg/ha), in the variant 5 (180 kg of N/ha), while the lowest content of nitrate nitrogen detected in inbred L3 on check (46.36 kg/ha). The content of nitrate nitrogen in soil in the silking stage depended on genotype, fertilizer variants and weather conditions during the growing period. Obtained results indicate that N-fertilizers should be carefully applied in maize production (considering that maize inbred lines are more modest in their requirements for mineral nutrients than maize hybrids), since their irrational application can result in occurrence of significant NO3-N amounts in soil, and therefore deeper soil layers, as well as, underground waters are, to a greater extent, subject to fertilizer leaching
