This study provides the short presentation of the conditions (clime, relief and melliferous flora) for beekeeping and apiculture development (number of beehives and honey production) in Montenegro from the second half of the 19th century up to 2003. The tradition and the bees growing methodology and their application during time are presented. The aims and the basis of the further development programme of apiculture in Montenegro, including the measures that follow up that development, are also comprised in the framework of this study.
