A feasibility study for the Agency for International Development, Washington, D.C. Ghana is generating annually about 2 735 100 t of agricultural and forestry waste materials that are suitable for pyrolytic conversion. It is estimated that about 342 000 t of charcoal and 273 000 t of oil could be produced from these wastes. The annual market value of these end products could be NC 48 396 000 and the annual amount of energy generated by such a process could exceed the total amount of energy produced in Ghana in 1973.
