Since 1999 fish faunistical and ecological surveys were carried out on the stretches of different water velocity of the Keleti-focsatorna (Eastern Main Canal). Present study describes the length-weight relationship and growth of separated roach stocks living in the canal. The ecological demands of this fish species are supplied in all the three stretches; major differences were found only in the growth of the older specimens.
