The nereid polychaeta worm, Nereis sp., has been used as feed of prawn to improve the gamete quality for obtaining a better quality of prawn larvae. However, the worm has been collected from the wild so that not only the population but also its habitat has been threatened. To overcome this problem it is necessary to develop the technique of the worm culture. In fact, the worm can also be used as a substitute for fishmeal as a raw material of prawn commercial feed. Therefore, the development of the ragworm culture should help the effort to overcome the depletion of fish biodiversity due to uncontrolled fishing for producing the fishmeal. The development of ragworm culture was focused on artificial fertilization, rearing larvae and juvenile to produce a good quality of ragworm for prawn feed. Artificial fertilization might be done by inseminating the eggs with mature spermatozoa acquired from hormonally manipulated male as well as with naturally mature male. Salinity of media influenced the fertilization and the stage of gamete maturity influenced fertilisability. Larvae reared in different salinities indicated different survival rates. Juvenile fed different food types showed different growth but no different survival rate
