The availability of vast scientific/technical manpower and advanced technologies need to be promoted for production of quality vegetables. There is a need to promote the production of seeds of hybrids/high-yielding varieties of different vegetable crops and to ensure their availability in time during their cropping season. Promotion of human resource in the field of scientific methods of vegetable production, integrated nutrient and water management, seed production and integrated disease and pest management will promote disease-free and quality vegetables with increased productivity. The WTO may also give impetus for adoption of high-tech horticulture, improved productivity of quality vegetables, better availability to masses and increasing export potential, emphasizes Dr, Director, IIVR, Varanasi.
