The different naturally growing 212 Karonda genotypes collected from hills of Kolhapur districts of Maharashtra were evaluated for fourteen important characters including growth, yield attributes and fruit physio-chemical characters. The magnitude of phenotypic coefficient of variance was slightly more than genotypic coefficient of variance for all characters and very high variability has been observed in the present investigation. The higher values more than 100 per cent of genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variance was observed for pomace per fruit which indicated that there is further scope to improve upon through selection. The GCV and PCV ranged from 60 to 90 per cent in case of seed weight per fruit, acidity percentage, non reducing sugar and average fruit weight. Heritability was very high and above 90% in case of average fruit weight bearing potential, non-reducing sugar, reducing sugar, acidity. T.S.S. and pomace content while genetic advance in terms of percentage mean was higher for pomace, fruit weight, acidity, seed weight per fruit and for non reducing sugar. The estimates indicate the scope for Karonda by selection.
