Physiological analysis of Rabi sorghum genotypes for shalloow soil

In rabi sorghum under receding soil moisture condition the genotype RSPB-1 recorded high grain yield per hectare than other genotypes. The high yield recorded in genotype RSPB-1 was associated with morpho-physiological characters. The genotype RSPG 37 recorded the highest total dry matter accumulation at physiological maturity where as RSPB 1 recorded the highest ear head dry matter at physiological maturity among other genotypes. The stomatal density recorded in case of genotype RSPG 1 was lowest on abaxial and adxial surface at 50% flowering. The relative water content was maximum in genotype M 35-1 (c) at 50% flowering. The grain yield was positively correlated with harvest index, ear head dry matter, total dry matter, ear head length and breadth, LAI and LAD, soil moisture content decreased gradually from sowing to harvesting and it was negatively related with the grain yield. The values for yield and contributing characters were significantly higher in genotype RSPB 1 which was superior under rabi conditions for shallow soil.
