Amphidiploids raised between Vigna radiate (SML 32, ML 505, MUG 35, PDM-84-146) X V. umbellate (RBL 167, RBL 141, RBL 35) were characterized cytogenetically and morphologically. Meiotically, both the parents had same chromosome number 2n=2x=22 whereas, amphidiploids had 2n=4x=44 with irregular chromosome associations showing quadrivalents, trivalents in addition to bivalents and univalents. The abnormal cells ranged 36.73-56.50 per cent showing irregular segregation and laggards at a Phase-I. The amphidiloids were either intermediate or similar to either of the parents for most of the morphological characters. The number of mature pods/plant and number of seeds/pod were comparatively less than both the parents. The variation among the amphidiploids for fertility and reproductive traits suggests efficiency of selection for having better amphidiploids.
