Effect of cultivating time on seed yield and tasty substances concerning black colored soybeans [Glycine max] as ""edamame""

Changing the cultural method is one way to raise the quality of vegetables. To supply the high qualitative produce, the present paper reports the effect of cultivating time on seed yield and content of tasty substances (sugars and free amino acids) concerning immature soybeans (Edamame). The author cultivated and examined black colored soybeans called 'Tankuro' which was an early maturing variety by seeding separately four times from April to June. The growth, seed yield and content of tasty substances were really affected by cultivating time even if the same variety. The period of vegetative growth was shorter as the seeding time was later, and the fresh weight of foliage and shoot nearly correlated with the length of this period. The seed yield and content of tasty substances correlated with the fresh weight of foliage and shoot. In this examination, the growth, seed yield and content of tasty substances in the culture which seeded in April were superior to the other cultivating times, and it was proved that the high qualitative produce of Edamame could be supplied.
