The paper outlines the role of various government departments and non-governmental organisations in forestering tree development outside the gazetted government forest lands. The paper describe agroforestry extension methods in use, including the mass media, contact farmers, group approaches, school-based activities, community approach encompassing focal development areas, catchment treatment areas and local-level planning procedures.The paper highlights a need for attention to be paid to a number to specific areas of in extension sector.
